Daughter of Jerusalem Giveaway

Daughter of Jerusalem is a fictionalized story of Mary Magdalene written by Joan Wolf. The blurb on the back cover reads as follows:

HER NAME WAS MARY MAGDALENE.
In this fictionalized story of one of the Bible's most compelling women, New York Times best-selling author Joan Wolf beautifully recreates the history, romance, and tradition of Mary's world. Daughter of Jerusalem follows Mary's life from her first love through her loveless marriage, to the moment she heard of a miracle worker in her town--and ultimately to the moment she saw Him rise from the dead.
As this inspiring chronicle reminds us, Mary was the first to witness history's greatest moment. She was a woman who sought forgiveness for her sins, and a follower of God who yearned for a deeper faith. She was Jesus' beloved disciple. Read Mary Magdalene's story and find yourself in this remarkable woman's journey to discover the Kingdom of God.

About the Author

Joan Wolf is a New York Times, USA Today, and Washington Post best-selling author. She has lived most of her adult life with her husband in Milford, Connecticut, where she raised two children and an assortment of horses, dogs, and cats. Along the way she also managed to write forty-six published novels--the writing of which profoundly enriched her life.

A little more about Joan Wolf

How many books have you written?DAUGHTER OF JERUSALEM is my 47th novel. You can get a list of all my books on the backlist page of my web site.

Have you ever worked at anything besides writing?
Yes, I taught high school English. In fact, I actually had Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor in my A.P. English course! She was an excellent student, by the way.

What do you do when you’re not writing?
For fun, I walk my dog for an hour everyday and horse ride two mornings a week. I also run the food pantry and outreach shelter program at my church, which gets more time-consuming as the years go by. So many people are out of jobs.

Why did you turn to writing Christian novels?
Two reasons, really. First of all, the publishers I had always written for now only wanted books with vampires or werewolves or whatever. I an not a paranormal fan– ever since I read Bram Stoker’s Dracula I have been terrified of vampires. The publishers also wanted romances with quite detailed sex scenes. Now, I like a good love scene as much as the next woman, but what they were looking for didn’t make me comfortable.
Secondly, as I grew older I found myself becoming more interested in spiritual matters. Garry Wills’ book What Jesus Meant is what propelled me into writing my book about Mary Magdalene.

Do you think you’ll ever retire from writing?
Not while my fingers are still able to work the computer.

Connect with Joan on her websiteFacebook, and Twitter.

My Opinion

I love reading different versions of the Mary Magdalene story, so I was excited to receive this book from Worthy Publishing. I've never read a novel by Joan Wolf. It was kind of hard to get into the story at first because it seemed choppy, but then I realized it's because the story is told from Mary's point of view. Mary is a child at the beginning of the book and we're able to grow up with her throughout the story. If you allow yourself to become immersed in the story, you'll enjoy this book. I recommend giving this book a try. (And it'll look great on your bookshelf--check out the beautiful cover!)

“Plus,” I said, looking at my watch again, “if I don’t get to a restaurant soon, I might not have a wedding of my own to organize…” My voice trailed off as I wondered for a moment if that might not be such a bad thing.

and fragile human beings who admit to being far from perfect, this book
takes you on a journey to show you that no matter where you are in
life, or what you have endured, there is hope. It is their prayer that
God will use their book in your life as a tool to bring healing, hope,
and ultimately freedom.
The book is launching December 6th, 2011 and on that day only when you
